Just thought I'd point out some of the important rules of the group you have to follow alongside of dA's rules.
Only post prose. All poetry submissions will be declined.
Why?: Look at our name. Now back at us. Now look at our name. Now back at us.
You're welcome, Sergeant Sarcasm.
Post in the appropriate folder. For now, they're only two, so it shouldn't be hard.
If you are writing a series please only submit the first chapter (and a prologue, if it has one) of your story.
First, this is a rule because readers are not looking at a group's gallery only for one deviant's work; they look to find the work of many people in one place.
And second, if anyone wants to read a story, they will start with the beginning, right? If you can get the reader hooked, they will look for the rest of the story in your gallery, meaning more exposure for you, less cluttering for us, and more entertainment for the readers!
Objection: But look at all those posts belonging to a single deviant that are getting accepted!
Solution: Those are integral stories. Short, long, you can read them all at once, so each one is a fresh one.
Hear that?! Short* stories can flow like puke after a huge party!!
* - It's what I like to call stories that are not published chapter after chapter, bear with me!
We do not accept fanfiction.
(I only now realized that I only posted this precious bit of information in the F.A.Q. blog, but not here.)
Why?: Good question. First reason would be that it's amateurish. Most writers (not all) start with fanfiction and proceed to more advanced levels of writing, which have deeper meanings and rounder characters.
The second reason would be that we wouldn't like to have a fanfiction filled gallery where one must look for hours before they find what they were looking for.
If you would like to post fanfiction, I suggest you join fanfiction.net (www.fanfiction.net) where you can submit every form of fanfics anyone ever imagined.
I have a request to ask of you, guys. Would you please be on the lookout and report deviations that get in the group and are fanfics? I read them all and check their categories, but I can't recognize all fandoms.
Before leaving the group, remove any deviations you have submitted.
Why?: Because we are not here to showcase your work while you happily wander off.
Breaking of this rule will result in a permanent ban.You want out, stay out.
If your piece is submitted in a poetry oriented group, it will be denied.
Why?: Dude, we told you. This is a group for prose. If you yourself admit your work is poetry, then what the heck are you doing here?
As soon as I think of more, I will post them and update the blog so it appears again.
If you still don't understand why some of our rules are rules, please ask in a comment below.
